Who We Are


The Evergreen United Party is a new political party in Washington State with the primary goal of unifying Western Washington and Western Oregon into one state and providing a more focused alternative to the established parties. Our Current aim is the Washington State legislature, starting in 2026.

Our Principles

Localism

  • Ensuring local governments have the control they need.
  • Reclaiming state powers and responsibilities from the Federal government.
  • Ensuring government borders accurately reflect and represent their people. Including moving borders to create a state containing Western Washington and Western Oregon.
  • Cultivating local pride and identity.
  • Native Revitalization.

Democracy

  • Ensuring there is a diverse party system via electoral reform.
  • Transitioning away from first past-the-post voting and replacing it primarily with Ranked Choice Voting (RCV).
  • Transitioning the legislature into a system of multi-member districts elected via proportional RCV (P-RCV).
  • Transitioning all elected councils and boards over to P-RCV.
  • Transitioning the legislature into a unicameral one.
  • Instituting a system of public campaign financing via campaign grants, matching funds, and democracy vouchers.
  • Attaching strings to these funds such as not accepting funds from out-of-state or non-individual donors.
  • Ensuring freedom of speech, assembly, petition, and the press are well protected.

Government

  • Ensuring all people are treated equally.
  • Reducing waste and complexity where unnecessary.
  • Safeguarding the right to abortion.
  • Implementing reasonable gun control limits while recognizing the utility of a firearm.

Fair Taxes and a Balanced Budget

  • Replacing all current taxes with an income tax.
  • Ensuring this tax never has any credits, exemptions, or breaks in order to prevent loopholes.
  • Including capital gains as a form of income in the tax structure.
  • Keeping the budget balanced.
  • Paying off debt and creating a surplus fund to prevent future debt.

Universal Social Welfare

  • Ensuring all people have access to all government programs.
  • Rejecting a Universal Basic Income.
  • Instituting a system of universal healthcare.
  • Prioritizing Education.
  • Emininating college tuition.
  • Eliminating fares on public transportation.

Economy

  • Intervening in the economy to protect workers, competition, and consumers.
  • Incentivizing environmental options through subsidies and grants.
  • Providing subsidies and grants for important industries or research.
